Katima Mulilo
Provided ongoing general support for all the shops
Assisted a partner shop with physical relocation
With support from the BEST programme Bicycles for Humanity Melbourne have been able to provide another 155 donated bicycles from Melbourne to school children in Namibia over the past 12 months. They were delivered in three locations: The DRC Community in Swakopmund, Katima Mulilo and Omakange Village in the Kunene Region. In Omakange, which is a long distance from our nearest partner bicycle shop, we have also provided mechanic training to enable the students to maintain their own bicycles. One of the older students, who shows particular aptitude, will be provided with extensive mechanic training in November 2019 to enable him to start his own bicycle repair business.

Thank you to everyone who participated in our solar charged raffle competition.
We sold 294 raffle tickets and raised $2,395!
The funds raised will be used to train two people in one of our workshops in Namibia to be able to convert donated bicycles into solar powered e-bikes. They will be supplied with the 2 kits for this conversion and time the kits include a solar powered recharging station for each bike. The hope is that they will use these bikes for specific entrepreneurial activities so that they can increase the income for the shops (e.g. e-taxis) and then possibly investing in more e-bike kits as needed.
Congratulations to our Solar Charged Raffle prize winners: • 1st prize: Intrepid Travel Cycle Vietnam Trip – Roland Williams • 2nd prize: Verve Portraits Photo Shoot – Brenton Wade • 3rd prize: Blessed By Nature Australia Hamper – Karen Short • 4th prize: Knog Bicycle Light Pack – Hannah Bevan • 5th prize: @BicycleNetwork Riding Pack – Ryan Levin

Every dollar raised in the Bicycles for Humanity Solar Charged Raffle will go towards solar powering bicycle workshops across Namibia – just another way we are sustaining bicycle recycling initiatives in Africa.
Bicycles for Humanity Solar Charged Raffle ticket sales will be used to fund and deliver electric bicycle kits and solar recharging stations, as well as bicycle mechanic training required to support and empower communities. The more we raise, the more we can power our Solar Charged impact.Â
The fantastic prizes that you can win include:
All prizes for the Bicycles for Humanity Solar Charged Raffle have all been generously donated thanks to the following Sponsors:
Pat (he’s the cheery bearded one in the blue cap) was drawn from the many participants who fundraised over $250 in our Melbourne to Namibia Challenge 2019.
Pat reached a total of $757 ($1,514 after fundraising matching). Pat encouraged his friends to don Hawaiian shirts and make donations through his Brewery to Brewery ride.
A welcome arrival of his first child Louis, saw Pat ease off on the riding in the middle of month.
Unfortunately no-one qualified for the major prize of the Cycle Vietnam trip with Intrepid ($500 raised by an individual rider who was not affiliated with Bicycles for Humanity or Intrepid).
However, this prize will still be available for Bicycles for Humanity to offer later in the year providing another opportunity for fundraising.
We Couldn’t have done it without all of you and our sponsors!
Our annual Melbourne to Namibia 2019 fundraiser raised close to $30,000!
To everyone who joined us as we pedalled through March for our Annual Fundraiser – a massive thank you!
Together, your efforts saw us raise nearly $15,000 – which was DOUBLED by the incredible team at the Intrepid Foundation, who matched every dollar donated!
To all who donated bicycles, money and time – we couldn’t make the difference we are making globally without your ongoing support.
