Celebrating a Milestone – 40th Shipping Container of Donated Bicycles Sent to Africa

We are thrilled to share a major milestone with you — our 40th shipping container of donated bicycles has officially been shipped to Africa! 🎉 Thanks to your continued support, what began as a small-scale effort has now grown into a movement that’s transforming lives. Each container we send is filled with hundreds of donated bicycles and spare parts, and each one carries the promise of mobility, independence, and opportunity. From school children biking miles to get an education, to healthcare workers reaching remote villages, these bikes are more than just transportation – they are lifelines.

Why This Matters

Over 20,000 donated bicycles delivered mainly to Namibia since our first shipment. Thousands of people now have easier access to education, jobs, and healthcare. Local bike shops and community programs continue to grow and thrive.

A Special Thank You

This milestone wouldn’t be possible without you — our generous donors, volunteers, and partners. Whether you’ve donated a bike, packed a container, or helped spread the word, you’ve been part of this incredible journey.

A Huge Thank You to L. Arthur Transport!

Your partnership and continued support have made it possible for us to move these containers smoothly and efficiently. From logistics to loading day, your team has been with us every step of the way — and we’re deeply grateful.

Thank you RPM Autoparts!

Another great corporate partner and supporter of Bicycles for Humanity Melbourne charity.

Sometimes, tyres are not suitable for donation to Namibia, and in those cases, we need to dispose of them responsibly. We’re really pleased to partner with RPM Autoparts for tyre recycling – a great facility and an excellent business committed to sustainable practices.

A New Approach on Packing Day!

This past Sunday (5th July 2025), we introduced a new strategy at our latest packing day – packing 2 shipping containers simultaneously. With Container 41 nearing completion, we found that fitting in the last bikes and tires took a bit more time. So, we decided to open Container 42 and start packing that as well! Packing a container is a delicate and technically challenging process, so we’re incredibly fortunate to have two skilled teams that can manage this task efficiently. Their expertise ensures everything fits perfectly and safely, making the entire process run smoothly.

A Message from Foibe at Family of Hope Foundation, Namibia

Thank you, Bicycles for Humanity Melbourne team, especially the energetic volunteers that help with packing the bicycles. We appreciate their efforts, bicycles are helping many people in Namibia, such as small businesses people, security guards, students, and all different people from all walks of life.

For example, we have a security company that has their workers or guards using a bicycle to commute to work, and they are our regular customers. 🚲💪
